The MOT certificate

The MOT certificate confirms that at the time of the test, without dismantling it, the vehicle met the minimum acceptable environmental and road safety standards required by law. It doesn’t mean that the vehicle is roadworthy for the length of time the certificate is valid. The MOT certificate is also no guarantee of the general mechanical condition of your vehicle. The test doesn’t cover the condition of the engine, clutch or gearbox.

Why must vehicles be tested?

It is an offence to use a vehicle of testable age on a public road that doesn’t have a current test certificate

How do I apply and what does it cost?

You can book a test by phone or online.

How do I prepare for the test?
Your vehicle should be road worthy with all the equipment working correctly, therefore it is advisable to have your vehicle checked by a mechanic before you bring it for a test.

Who carries out the test?
MOT tests are carried out by vehicle test examiners employed by AT Motors  who are fully qualified mechanics.  They must have obtained relevant qualifications (or their equivalent) prior to their appointment:

What happens if my vehicle fails an MOT test?

Your Options are
You can have AT Motors carry out the repairs or you can take it to a garage of your choice

You can book a retest with AT MotorsWhich is free within 14 days of receiving this record sheet on the day of the full test.
